Either silicone or soap/water is a better choice that wd-40. The petroleum distillates in wd-40 tend to speed the breakdown of the rubber exhaust hangers. They're not going to melt in your hands or anything, but why use something that potentially shortens their useful life?

^^^ If only I remembered I had a can... I tried for atleast an hour to remove these hangers without lubricating the hangers to get my sway bar out and gave up... Mind due, I was under the influence and it was 3am.... lol

If you lube the hangers, they will come off 20X easier. just throwin that out there
you may need to take of the rear frame brace also. You can lower the exhaust enough to do your hitch work, it will pivot at the header where the spring bolts are. No need to unbolt anything.

For now to use with a bicycle rack. I also have an old sunfish sail boat that would easily tow.

you know guys they make exhaust hanger pliers. They are worth the weight in gold. google it up.
I've swapped exhausts on my car like 4 times now. It gets easier after the first time, but not by much with the stock exhaust because it's all one piece. Reinstalling is easier than removing.
