You can get an "impact screwdriver" for less than $20 at Sears. Without it, it will be hell to remove those screws. You only need to remove the flat-head (recessed) phillips screws to pull the rotors, other than removing the calipers of course.

I have been getting my rotors turned locally (third time for me) for $10 each, which is much cheaper than new rotors. So as soon as I get a little pedal vibration I get it taken care of. If you catch it early they only have to shave a couple thousandths off the rotor and they will last much longer.

I've heard from a couple racing guys that they don't bother putting the screws back in. Any thoughts?

As others have said, you need an Impact driver, no question about it!

As far as putting the screws back in, I always do, but NEVER with the impact driver, that would just be asking for trouble.

Personally though, for the price of new rotors through someone like HandA I think resurfacing them is a a lot of work and very little savings, especially when you consider a resurfaced rotor is way more likely to warp because it is thinner. IMHO.

You heard right, FF2Skip. They don't have to go back on. But having them on makes it easier to put the wheels on, and making sure that the wheel is snug after the lugnuts are torqued.

Might be cheaper for you US guys, but over here in Germany, front rotors cost 170 EUR = $210 each!

I've noticed that rebedding-in your pads can help remove some pad buildup if that is causing disc vibration problems.

Is it true that if I dont change my pads my rotors will quickly need a resurfacing again?

I stripped a screw on my front driver's side then spent about 2 hours and 3 bits trying to get the thing out. Finally I broke it free with a massive flat head and some grinding... I'll never do it again w/o the proper screwdriver.
