Default How to Clean the Comptech Air Filter ?

Since Comptech is still reconstructing its business, I don't even know if they will carry the air filter cleaning kit. So how do you guys clean the filter with? Can I use the K&N filter cleaning kit to clean the Comptech air filter?

Any input is greatly appreciated!

You can order foam filter cleaning and oiling products from Amsoil ( http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/afo.aspx for info on their high tack foam filter oil, and the product code for the foam air filter cleaner is FFC-BE - call their tech service line with any questions at (715) 399-TECH).
I've used both products with no problems.
I don't recommend using K&N cleaning and oiling products because they're designed to clean and oil gauze filter media.

i have seen some online stores selling it for 50 bucks. but none have it in stock yet.

i personally hate oiling filters, so paying 50 for a new one, and to be able to wash it in water dry it and reinstall makes it worth it. i think the kit is 28 to clean it, but i dont know how many cleanings you get out of it.

You can use the K&N stuff if that's what you've got on hand. You can also use Simple Green, dish detergent, or practically anything that cuts grease.

Found it:

Do make sure you let the filter dry completely before you re-oil it, just as with a K&N.

My drop-in Comptech filter came with an aerosol can of oil - hopefully the cold air kits do as well.

You can get the UNI filter or foam filter cleaner from most motorcycle shops.
