Default How can I tell if my engine mounts need replacing?

Don't know if eyeballing them will do the trick but is there any other way I can tell if my engine mounts need replacing?

Thanks.

bad mounts usually split in half when you remove them, so it is hard to eyeball unless you can get in close with a bright light and look for a crack in the body of the mount. I think the tell-tale sign would be increased vibrations at idle or in some driving conditions. The mounts are fluid filled and will leak when damaged, but the fluid could be long gone before you notice. I just pulled mine out while doing some engine work and they are in good shape after 55k miles, but I heard of others failing much sooner if abused.

On some cars you can hold the brake and let the clutch out a little and see the engine rock excessively when an engine mount goes bad. I don't know if this works with an S2000.

Mine looked fine until I removed them. As stated above there was only a crack that had leaked out all the oil. I could not see anything wrong until I had them out in my hand. Replaced mine with the Innovative mounts and I am happy with them.

If you leave it in neutral and revv it and the engine moves more than normal than you have a bad mount/mounts.

^ I used this method... Good god my engine rocked bad!. I ordered some 75a's from Innovative, but received 85a's... I tried the 85a's and stuck with them.
