Default ok, I think I pretty much fried my clutch

Here's the story. I've had my car since April and have 9500 miles on it. Today I was sitting at a light waiting for the turning arrow. It was broken, so I decided to go straight. I revved pretty high, about 6000 rpm and let the clutch out. I started to move, but barely. Meanwhile I was gunning it because I didn't want anyone to hit me and started to bounce off the redline. I'm thinking WTF and shifted into second all while doing about 10 mph and hit the limiter in second. I let off the gas and it was fine. No smoke or nasty smell until about 10 minutes later when I was on the freeway. Now all night I've been smelling that god aweful burnt clutch smell, but it seems to be shifting fine (well, except for the 1-2 crunch) What do ya guys think?

If the clutch isn't slipping I wouldn't worry about it, that's my motto.

1Fast,

You glazed the clutch. Not a major problem, and no permanent damage done except you've shortened the clutch's life by a few days. Give it a few days of normal driving and it will be back to normal again.

I did the that coming home last night, taking off from a light. Same thing happened, kind of strange to bounce off the rev-limiter in second, and still not really be going anywhere. When I got home it smelled like my car was going to catch fire. Today I'm still getting the smell every now and then, but seems to be no problems.

It's happened to me too. Scary as hell. I can't afford a new clutch @ 10000 miles!

It happened in mine a long time ago. If you have a MY 2000, get the TSB 55 upgraded clutch. It grabs better and doesn't slip and burn. Its a lot better clutch.

So what happened to his clutch?? Where can we find this clutch TSB 55 and where do you take it to have it installed?

Its on the site somewhere, click on the Library or FAQ links at the very top. Look around for the TSBs section. Any dealer will do TSB 55 as its done under warrenty. Just call your nearest dealer, tell them you have a MY 2000 S2000 and the clutch rattles between 3 and 4k RPM on deceleration and to look up TSB 55 in their database. Schedule and appointment and have it replaced. It takes most of a day to do the work.

Damn. I think I did the same thing. I took my buddy for a little test drive to show him the amazing capabilities of the S2000. So, I gunned it, popped the clutch and went know where. And, then the infamous burning smell. I took it to honda and they said it was fine, but damn I was scared. The car is so new. I still kind of feel it doesn't work like it used to, but it may be psychological.
