Hot cams true?
I've seen alot of topics lately about brian crower cams and others making 14hp without tune. Is this true because before that i saw for the longest time cams for this car didnt do anything and were a waste of time.. any input??

For a long time everyone said BC cams were crap and lost power. Now all of a sudden one vendor says they make 14hp and everyone jumps on board. Ill wait for independent dynos.

May have only gained 3whp (not 100% sure yet since my baseline was done on a different dyno and it was 100+ degrees when I dynoed untuned; going to dyno again on the same dyno in a week or two) without tuning on top end on an 2005 all else stock (major low end gains though). Afr after 6.5k was in the 16's...stock ecu didn't have enough fuel. After tuning with aem ems had about 25whp gains all else stock.
I might be close to the limit of the stock injectors (logs and wideband say I'm okay though) not sure on duty cycle but I am running a higher than stock fuel pressure ~55psig (the fpr from my vafc days came in handy). Injector calculators say I should be around 60psig to be at 80% duty cycle with the amount of power I am dynoing. I wonder if I need to upgrade injectors...

I picked up a good bit of power with bc2's
based on my experience you could easily get away with dropping bc2 cams in place of ap1 cams on an early ap1 ecu and have no problems. on a later ap1 and ap2 ecu, that will be a different story since those dont run nearly as rich as the early ap1 ecu's.
personally i'd spend money on tuning before i bought cams, and i wouldnt just drop them in. Completely stock ap1's are on the verge of loosing control of the valves at high rpms.

I think the vendor said that BC has redone the cams and the ones for sale now are different from the ones a long time ago
