Default Hood Well Trim Removal

My S2K is going into the paintshop soon to have some paintwork done on the rear wing due to an inconsiderate car parker smacking it with their door in tesco's car park. I don't want to end up with a masked line where the top of the wing meets the black trimmer that runs around the top of the hood well so would like to remove it before painting.

Can anyone tell me how it comes off?

Thanks

Mikey

What exactly do you mean by "hood"? On this side of the pond, "hood" means the thing that covers the engine. You call it the "bonnet". Not sure what you mean by "hood".

Ooops sorry, in the uk "hood" describes "soft top" or folding roof!

Thanks

I'm a bid perplexed. The rear wing doesn't come anywhere near that black trim piece. If the wing is getting painted, why can't the shop just masked it off, along with the rest of the trunk (boot as you call it). Removing the trim may create more complications than you really want. Take a look here and see how it goes together. This will give you some clues as to how it can come apart.

You may even have to remove other things before you can get at that:

Dave is correct. That rear trim you speak of is only removable by removing all the interior trim pieces and then the rear portion of the soft top (including rain rail). It's really a whole lot more hassle than it's worth. If possible, have them just paint the wing and leave the trunk (boot) alone.

I believe in the UK wings are what we call fenders.

OK, after Argentum's post, I have no idea what he's talking about. I retract my previous post until it can be clarified exactly what part is being discussed. Perhaps posting this in the UK forum might be better as those guys will know what he's talking about.

I think he means around 'bottom of the hood' which adds to the confusion... and yes i had my first AP1 repainted with the trim still on a car, paint shop can lift it few mm and put masking tape around it so it wont create sharp edge where the paint ends after removing the masking tape. Will end up looking pretty much like from factory.

However i think removing the trim and painting it underneath properly is worth the effort in a long run...
