Hood clearance between Stock Airbox & hood?

Hood clearance between Stock Airbox & hood?
Does anyone kknow the clearance between the stock air box lip (top off) and the hood when closed? Is it a couple inches or less? Does anyone know the clearance with the air box top on?

While making this:
I found out there isn't much room between hood and airbox + top on.
Less then an inch IMO.
Looking through the gap with the hood almost closed I guess it's about 8 - 10 mm. when closed.
Why?
