Honda S2k delivery miles
Hey I have just bought myself a dec 2001 s2k with 25 miles delivery miles.
The wheels have been regulary rotated and the engine has been started a couple of times a year by the process of removing the spark plugs and circulating the oil before firing up.
This has been stored in a warm garage completely covered.
I am arranging for this to be picked up by a transport company as i am weary about starting it for the first time. I am going to change the oil and filter, and put fresh fuel in etc.
BUT WHAT OIL SHALL I USE FOR RUNNING IN?
WOULD MOBIL 1 5W 20 BE OK?
when should I replace this oil again?
what is the recommended oil for the honda s2000?
anyone know any insurance companies who will insure a 20yr old?
got to wait until August to insure this. Couldn't miss out on a bargain like this though.

search... but here is some help
use 10w 30 oil
dec 2001 ??? what does that mean.
Change the differential, tranny fluid, and brake fluid as well.
Rotating the wheels??? You should not be doing this on an S due to different offsets.
Insurance companies- they will depending on driving record maybe $3k+ per year though.

Only 25 miles for 4.5 years old car ? If this is correct, then you want to change all these:
Oil: Havoline GF4/SM 10W30 conventional oil
Oil filter: Honda PCX filter
Transmission fluid: GM Synchromesh Friction Modified
Gear/Differential: LE-607 or Mobil 1 75W90
Brake and clutch: Motorcraft Super Premium DOT3 brake fluid
You may want to drive some distances to warm up all fluids before changing, to drain out all particles accumulated at the bottom after parking for a long time. Factory filled oil contains high Moly and Honda recommends do not change factory oil before 7500 miles, you may want to add 5 ounces of Valvoline Synpower Oil Treatment to mimic factory filled oil. Do not use Synthetic oil before 7500 miles.

I agree with TR-S2K except on the Tranny and Diff fluid.
If you live where it gets cold, LE607 may be too thick of a fluid for you in those temps.
Also, I would not suggest using the GM fluid in the tranny if you are NOT having any trouble with notchy/grinding shifts. stick with Honda MTF

Pour one of these in when you change your oil. You will need 4-5 quarts of conventional oil

I changed mine out before 3,700 miles. I won't say how much before, and I do not recommend, or advocate anyone change out their factory fill before the recommended interval as per Honda.
Being that this car is a little over 4 years old, it has to be changed. As to when to change it again shouldn't matter too much at this point. If you changed it out before 3,700 miles, you could simply add another can of Mr Moly break-in

10w-30 is what the majority of the peeps here run. Some peeps run 5w-40, I run 5w-30 (I'm the oddball ) I run 5w-30 most of the year. I drive the S mostly at night, so it rarely see's high ambient temps. I have yet to run it on the track in high ambient temps, but when I do, I may want to run 10w-30.
