Default Honda (NGK) Spark Plugs now $$BIG$$

I went down today to pick up a set of the new plugs after rebuilding my engine. They want $25/plug for a $5 plug. They justified it because it was a 'kit' instead of a part. They also wouldn't give them to me under warranty because they have to install. What a load of $%!t. Denso Iridiums are list at $20 and sell for $13.

This just exemplifies the reason I will never buy a Honda again. Not only do they release a car with a significant design flaw (by their own admission), they significantly mark up the repair item.

If you have read this far, you know my car is now fixed. No bonus parts. That was the farthest I've been into an engine. I'm still impressed by their engine technology. Too bad their customer service can't match. The car will be sold in the next couple weeks. In the mean time I bought my M-killing AMG. Honda should have read between the lines. Take a wild guess what I was going to spend my $100k on in the next couple years.

Definitely not on Honda products including Acura.

FYI - each dealer sets their own pricing. Not honda.

Example:
Integra Type R head assembly. Local dealers want anywhere from $1800-$2200. I bought mine at a dealership in GA for $1325.

What's the significant design flaw?

It never comes to my mind why people cry for a few bucks and than spend big times more money on stuff that is not worth 1/2 the money they pay for ??

I believe it's a matter of personal preference. I will NEVER spend $40 for a steak for example. But I will spend $1300 on a type r cylinder head in a heart beat.

It's all relative. 4x profit margin is BS.

Take your pick:
1. Spark Plug torque specification
2. Vib analysis
3. Extended Testing under conditions they would expect this car to be used
4. Spark Plug type

To Honda's credit, they have since fixed the problems and performed a recall. For those that have had to rebuild their engines, Honda will not provide this fix for free and significantly overcharge. Kind of ironic, since it was that design flaw that caused us to rebuild our engines.

One more thing: When I asked them for the plugs, they tried to sell me the original plugs again.
