I would agree with this statement from my personal experience with the transmission. I can actually feel the point where the fluid starts to break down. And the uoas shows this as well, maybe this is the 'better economy' part.
yup , and MTF2 is a thinner viscosity than the original MTF was , and given how the fluid thins out due to shearing you are better off changing it at earlier intervals. The original MTF was along the lines of a 30 weight oil viscosity, the MTF2 is similar to a 20 weight oil viscosity, and it gets thinner with use. I would not run it longer than 10k, and I'll be changing mine much more frequently than that, it's cheap maintenance.

Yet the cars run just fine with regular 30K intervals.

At this point you're really going for feel more than anything. Tranny out lasts motors in most cases.

To each their own.

yeah the people changing their fluids early are ones who report deteriorated shift quality. Many owners like to change their fluid early as they believe the shift quality is improved , which could all be related to fluid viscosity as it thins over time.

Good to know that I am not the only one using MTF 3! I was afraid that it was for trucks or like lawn mowers or something.

The MTF3 I got comes in a Japanese packaging
