Honda MTF-2?
I'm about to my transmission oil out, and consulted my shop manual. It says to use Honda MTF-2. However, my local dealer parts dept. says there is only one Honda MTF fluid, and sold me 2 qts. of Honda Extended Service Manual Transmission Fluid. (part no. 08798-9016)
Does anyone know for sure if there are two different transmission oils available from Honda, an MTF & MTF-2? I've searched this board, and could only find Utah S2K, asking the same question with no reply.

You purchased the only thing I think is available. I have purchased MTF from Honda more than once and was never asked about or offered anything else.
(apparently there is a -2 version of coolant available from Honda.. is this just confusion?)

After extensive research I can confirm that, at this time, there exists no MTF2 on the market from Honda...even though it is the transmission fluid listed in their service manual. Honda offers only one choice ...the extended service fluid they claim is good for 90K.
Interesting thought on the -2 coolant Chris? Maybe that's where the typo in the manual originated?

There might be a better version of the coolant...the last coolant update I had, my buddy at the Honda parts counter made a bit of a big deal about getting me the 'better' coolant, which they just got in stock.

Really interesting CD! O-Ring seals are made specifically out of ethylene propylene (EPR) or polypropylene (PPR). In the aerospoace hydraulics world this makes a huge difference and the two are mutually exclusive. One is used for "Red Oil" hydraulics (i.e. Military) and one is used for Skydrol hydraulics (i.e. commercial-fireproof). Looks like I'll have to pull a few rings next weekend and see what they are......EPR or PPR?
Really interesting from an elastomeric compatability standpoint!
I'll be doing some research on this one to be sure.......
