I've used Delvac 1 5W-40 since the my first change @ 6 months.

Delvac is formulated for very long OCI intervals-not that I'd let it go 20K miles-- but I liked the OA that Road Rage provided some time ago.

My manual said to wait until the parameters of the first OCI were met-that was 6months for HD use.

No detectable oil consumption yet after 6 months in the sump.

No specific mileage synthetic oil exclusion in the '04 manual.

Regards,
BD

For translation:

"Maru" or a circle means good, "Batsu" or an X means bad. The double circle means best.

So they say 10W-30 is good and 5W-40 is best.

The chart:
2001 and newer ordinary small cars
2001 and older ordinary small cars
Type R
NSX, S2000
Unimportant car (yes, that's what the kanji says)

There is absolutely no reason in the world to use 10w-60 motor oil in this car. This is a street car we are talking about. You can count on losing a little bit of power as well as fuel milage by using that oil.

I use a 5-40, I thought that was better for hot climate... The only reason honda recommends a 10-30 is for emissions.

10w-30 is actually heavier than a 5w-40. Remember, the first number is the weight of the oil. The second number in a 5w-40 motor oil means that it will have the protection of a 40weight motor oil through the use off additives that activate when the oil heats up.

10w-30 has less additives than a 5w-40 motor oil.
