Default Honda Hypoid Gear Oil

So I know our diffs are finicky and I know dealerships have occasionally given out VTM4 fluid by mistake, so I'm wondering about this one here. Anyone know if it's a-ok?

The guy at the parts counter dug this up. It's 80w90, GL-5 rated, has hypoid in the name, and costs $10. Am I good or what? Please for the love of god, do not change the topic in an argument about LE607 vs. M1 or whatever. There are enough of those threads around!

The spec in manual calls for 90W gl5 gear oil. That fluid should be fine.

I thought so too, but I noticed in a thread from a long time ago that negcamber (dude with a lot of stars) claimed it was bad. I think he got it confused with the VTM4 fluid, but who knows...

Is that a Honda fluid ?, I didn't think Honda made a fluid for our diffs, perhaps they are using it in other vehicles in addition to the S2k. The spec. of the fluid that you list is sufficient for our diffs.

Thanks guys. It's too bad that it doesn't come in a squirt bottle. Now I'll have to mess with some dirty pump...

Take the top off a squirt bottle and screw it onto your bottle

It could be speced for mixing with vinegar to make a nice salad dressing for all I care...

As long it works well and won't blow the diff, I'm fine with it!

Can't remember. It is either from the motorcycle or the marine division. Whatever, it is GL5 in the proper vis.
