Honda Dealership not knowing what a CDV is!?
A "platinum mechanic" at honda was told to switch my '04 CDV with an '03. I was having my master cylinder replaced and thought why not knock out the CDV too. But there was just one problem: The guy had absolutely no idea what I was talking about. He said the car doesn't have a CDV, and they couldn't even locate the part on their computers. Even the advisor sided with the mechanic. The job was never done because they thought I didn't know what I was talking about! I even stated that it was part of the slave cylinder. I wish I had the pictures from this site with me at the time to show him. Am I missing something here? Could this part be called anything else?

on them...
Just tell them to switch the 04+ slave cylinder with an 03. Don't even need to discuss why... It may be called a "restrictor," and probably can't be purchased separately from the slave cylinder assy.

OK...what you were asking for would confuse a lot of mechanics. We happen to know the CDV quite well because it is an irritant to us. BUT...if you had asked me to replace your 04 CDV with an 03 CDV, I probably would have laughed at you.
The 03 doesn't have a CDV...and the CDV is not a separate part with it's own part number. It is integral to the clutch slave cylinder.
So...don't blame your Honda mechanic or Service Advisor...you confused the hell out of them.

The CDV isn't a separate part, like everyone has already said. As a generalization, most service writers don't know anything. Of the 4 service writers I get to deal with daily, 3 are clueless.
Unless the tech has a special interest in S2k's, he isn't going to care to find out that the AP2's have one.
The interweb is the only place S2k's are even known a AP1-AP2's.
