High revs when idling (6000 rpm)
Hey guys,
I was out driving today and suddenly I noticed when I was changing gears that the engine was revving quite high. Driving normally etc. it was fine.
So I pulled over, put my foot on the brake+clutch and it was revving at approx. 6000 RPM. I took off in first, and it was normal again (without clutch). Put the clutch back in, 6000 RPM.
So I turned it off straight away, started the engine again and it had no problems - normal 1000 RPM idling. Drove it around a bit and then home and it was fine again. Still, it was rather unsettling to have that happen.
I rang Honda and the guy thought the throttle might be sticking.
Anyone have any ideas what it could be and what I should do about it if anything? It's the first time it's happened. Just concerned whether or not it's anything major and anything to worry about.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Adam

If you have a lot of slack then thr trottle is probably blocked by an obstruction.
- Check around throttle to see if there is something preventing it from closing all the way
- Pull off the hose at the throttle body and verify that the throttle is shuttiing all of the way (On my old integra I had a piece from the air filter break off and lodge under the throttle).
