Billman - do you recommend replacing the TCT as preventative for a 70k mile AP1 motor? I just read that you have a good replacement part. I'm all about preventative and early maintenance especially when a failing part can cause major damage.

Pic of my actual retainer, the exact way it came out. OP, it's upside-down, can't see the crack when it's installed. I replaced them after reading the forums here, just because. _7_ out of 8 intake retainers were cracked, this is the worst of them. The best $60 and 6 hours I ever spent on the car.

I dont think thats necessary, they give much warning before going bad. Once it starts making noise I say you should replace it. Billman sells custom made tensioners guaranteed for life. If you buy another from the dealer its just going to go bad again.

This thread should be stickied for sure.
