Default High oil consumption

My car's mileage is @56000, 2002 S2000. Recently, for the first time I've switched to Mobil 1 synthetic (per billman) and have been adding a quart every 1,000 miles. The oil was changed two months ago when the car had 54000 miles, and I've added 2 quarts in total to keep the oil leveled.

Every 1000 miles the oil level would be below and couple centimeters south of the X's, and this has never happened when I used Dino oil. I've been using 10W-30 for all oil changes and I was wondering if synthetic's can be the culprit specifically to my S2000 engine..

Anyone w/ similar experience?

My driving style is very conservative btw. No launches, occasional vtec, no hard turns..

My car has 95k. I have been running full synthetic since I got it which was at 69k and I also have to put in a quart every 1000miles or so.

EDIT: My right foot only knows gas and brake, so i would say that my driving style is balls to the walls.

It's a well documented phenomen that synthetics tend to get used up quicker. You should be checking your oil and topping off more frequently. Honda recommends checking the oil at each fuel stop. I check mine weekly.

I would recommend getting krankvents which will help your rings seal better and keep oil from being sucked into the intake.

btw 90K no oil burn between 7500mi amzoil oil changes, track once a month.

First time hearing of Krankvents. Any threads?

Also Red, if you're putting in 1QT every 1,000 miles, you're putting in 5~8 extra quarts before your next oil change???

Well i said 1000 "or so". its actually closer to 1500-1700 But yes, it is usually just below the low line if i forget to check it. Like I said, i drive it pretty hard... every day. Ill put it like this... when my wife drives it, she gets almost 24mpg in town, i have NEVER gotten better than 19mpg. I usually get about 17mpg or so.

I've been running Mobil 1 in my MY01 since it turned 10k miles. It now has 71,500. I change between 3,500 and 5,000 miles. Typically I have to top it off a couple times between changes but only 1/3 to 1/2 a quart at a time and NEVER have had to use more than a total of 1 quart between changes. A quart every 1,000 miles does sound a bit excessive but every S2000 motor is different. Some people report no burning whatsoever.

My 02 has 56K miles and I run Amsoil only in it. No mods, no krank vents or anything like that. It burns no oil between changes. Non nada zip. I don't think synthetic oil has anything to do with it.

I'm going to switch back to Dino after my interval concludes. The 2 quarts I put, plus the 2 extra I purchased for future use already rang up to $23 total, which makes my oil change close to $100
