HID High Beams
I was thinking of buying the kit for HID high beams when i found these SYLVANIA SILVER STAR bulbs. I thought what the hell it's only $40 bucks not $400, I'll try them. Well after cutting up my hands really good in the little holes where the lights reside and not being able to get the rubber dust bootie off the passenger side till i totally smashed my hand. They are in, and they are worth every penny, they are the closest thing i've seen to HID I've ever seen. You almost can not tell where the HID lows stop and the SILVER STARS start. It looks a hell of lot better that the old yellow hase I was use to.

Illegal? maybe, but I have hit a deer in every car i have ever owned so a ticket or tickets for my high beams being too bright is all good if it means not paying to remove the fur from my bumper at the toll of several thousand dollars sometimes. Texas hillcountry deer love roadsters. And how many of us have our front plates in states that it is required, haha. The plate for my truck I accually left inbeded in the deer I hit the last time and haven't had one on it since. I also added 65/80W offroad bulbs to it to, and haven't got any jerky since.

I'm pretty sure it's more than a regular fix-it ticket for illegal headlights, but I'm no expert. Plus I'm from CA, our cops are different out here . I switched my high's to the same bulbs you refer to years ago, they are def. way better than stock.

HID hi beams are not illegal. A lot of the new cars use them. Ive seen Sylvanias. Not bad, but Ive got PIAA Super Plasma H1's from Japan. The bulbs actually chrome, not colored blue. These look more like HID's than my real ones.

I tried the PIAA 100W in my other car, and they were much brighter but would pop premature all the time so the cost added up real fast, but I upgraded the wiring harness with outboard relays and a direct connect to the battery so as not to burn up the factory harness like so many people do. PIAA said it was probally do to either vibration or the fact that turning them on and off to dim the head lights shocks the filaments more than in an on all the time off-road enviroment. The SILVER STARS will i guess last longer and i will add some PIAA or HELLA off-road lights to supplement. Does any one make in insert for the factory locations that anyone knows of?

Ive had my PIAA's for 3 years now. Originally they were in my Prelude as normal head light bulbs. No probs yet even after heavy and sudden vibration and jolts. The only thing, compared to regular high beams, they might look better, but are not as good at night. The regular yellow color is more visible to the eye and I noticed I see better on dark tree-lined roads with the stock ones.
