well herees the thing i would rather replace the passenger side headlight anyway, theres some condensation in it. So a AP1 headlight with HID and Ballast would be nice. Plus SOHC i would only have to do the passenger side headlight

yep. it turned a pinkish/purpleish color, and hummed as well.
later in its life, it would turn on, flicker for a few seconds, stay on for a little while, then go out.

the oem bulb is 4300k. don't pay dealer prices, i paid $150 for two at kbcarstuff.com

it's a tamper-proof torx, i can't remember what size...not hard to source at all

OEM bulbs are 4300k. Turn on the lights and listen for the "hum" of the ballast. After awhile of pulling my hair out thats how I figured out it was in fact my ballast going out on me and not the bulb

hey guys so let me get this straight. I turn my headlights on and my passenger side headlight turns on for a split second then turns off. We thinking the ballast? Or the headlight?

when my ballast messed up the light wouldnt light up at all..i would say its the bulb only way to find out for sure is by switching bulbs thats what i did, its not hard just a little time consuming, plus you will save yourself alot of money and learn to do it on your own..you can get the tool you need at auto zone thats where i got it i think it was like 5 bucks plus now i have it incase i ever need it again. Be carefull with the condensation thats how my ballast messed up in the first place when i took off the headlight to clean and reseal it i tilted it and the water got on the ballast keep it face down before removing the ballast, i would recomend you reseal both headlights while theyr off with silicone sealent to avoid future condensation..

I wouldn't completely rule out the ballast, because my headlight was doing the same thing. It would turn on and after a minute it would flicker and die. One time it even stayed on for most of my drive to work before it died. Then it ended up not turning on ever again

I tried swapping bulbs first and after that didn't work I swapped in a new ballast. Been working perfect ever since. On a sidenote condensation is what fried my ballast also. If you have or had condensation issues I would definitely make sure the ballast is working.

another thing,..you NEVER replace only one bulb. you replace both otherwise they will shine different lumens,.....a stock bulb will be brighter after its break in period of about 100-200hrs,...after 1000 hrs its down to about 75% of its peak brightness, at 1500 about 50%.
philips released a "color match" bulb (CM) to help with people having to replace both........it was already "colorshifted"....so brand new it appeared as a regular oem bulb AFTER 100-200hrs. This way you could replace one bulb without having one a different color. These are what i purchased last(as a pair) because i didnt want to wait for the "color shift" to happen, i wanted cool purple color we all love,...not the yellowish/white the way they are brand new.

i want to add that it is a bit nerve racking to tear apart your car to replace the lights but i'm SOOOOO glad i did it. i didnt read the link that was posted but the easiest way i did it was,...
jack the car up on one side,
remove wheel
pull out the plastic screws in the fender liner, 4 on lip, 3 or so in the well
pull it out of the way,
unplug the connections.
use the T25 tamperproof torx bit(less than 5 bucks at autozone)
remove the cap to access the bulb,
replace bulb,
repeat.
