HID acting up...
I put a set/pair of new hid d2s bulbs last week and it worked fine until this afternoon. I noticed this afternoon that my driver's side HL was turned off (one-eyed). This morning, both were on. So, I turned the HL switch off and turned it back on. BOTH HL's turned back on like normal etc., but about a minute or so later my driver's side goes off again. I repeat this about 5 times and finally give up.
I searched and found that it could be one of several reasons, but I don't understand as to why. I'm sort of a n00b looking to expand my knowledge so help me out.
1st possible problem according to previous posts is the defective bulbs. So if the bulbs are defective, how do they even turn on for a minute? Is there something inside of the bulb that sorta powers itself- keeping it turned on for even a minute?
2nd problem is the ballast. why is the duration so precise everytime? if it's defective and only be able to power the bulbs for certain amount of time, what mechanism has failed?
3rdly, moisture. this is easy so no explanation necessary here.
I have yet to pull out the bumper and check to see if everything is how it should be. I plan on inspecting it soon, but just wanted to know why this happens. thanks, danny

From my experience this happened to me as well. It ended up being a blemish on the D2S bulb that would work half the time. When placed side by side you could clearly identify this blemish. Replaced it and it fixed everything.

This happened to one of my customers. Turned out to be a small bit of moisture, bridging the printed circuit inside the ballast. blown dry and resealed, fixed it for good.

it worked for about 5 minutes today! and the driver's side turned off. it actually stayed on longer than 1 minute!
nsxnext, do you recall what the blemish looked like and where it came from?
billman, PM sent.

Once you blow it dry and re-seal the cover, pull back the braided cover and silicone where the red and black wire go through. This is where the water channels into the ballast
