Russ,

Don't be alarmed, samething happened to me!!!!!!!! - But my car made 199rwhp, same situation, check out my dyno. I talked to Stephan (Great guy) that runs Cartek Tuning, who owns the blue s2k. I'm led to believe my CAI was killing me, and it was. I threw the stock box back on and wow. It sure feels better, less sluggish thats for sure up top. I'm getting a V-AFC put in next week and having it tuned, since I'm running the spoon duct/oem box, and a custom N1 2.5" exhaust.

Just feel safe to know your car is just fine, s2000s are extremely sensitive to modifications, since the car is tuned very sensitivily from Honda.

It's not the Comptech. He thought it might have been and pulled it off to do a run without
it on and promptly LOST 4hp. Since the car is running much better now, I do believe it was
a problem with contamination of oil on the MAP. K&N representatives were
unanimously in agreement on that as well and even mention that problem of over-oiling on their web site. You have to be careful with those foam filters. For whatever reason, resetting the ECU
helped as well but the new MAP came in so we'll see if that does anything as well. I'm about
90% positive it was too much oil on the filter because when I took the Comptech
apart to inspect it, there was traces of oil inside the wall of the CAI tube so it's logical to
assume some made its way to the MAP. I'll check it when I take it off to install the new one.

FWIW, anything below 11:1 is too damn rich for this car so Schism, you'll definitely do well
with some tuning there. We had one member who dyno'd very low and with some
tuning, saw a significant amount of missing horsepower recovered. That's the good thing about
these engine management systems. With a properly tuned non-FI S2000, it's tough to get
much beyond 6-8hp but if your car is running too rich or too lean, the VAFC or E Manage
will tighten that baby up nicely and you'll see gains EASILY surpassing those garnered
from a properly mixed S2K.
