Default Hesitation at 7500rpm

My stock 03 just passed 7500 miles and I'm noting a hesitation around 7500rpm under heavy throttle. VTEC kicks in normally @6000, but there's a pause (maybe 1/2-1 sec.) when the revs reach 7500 before VTEC kicks back in again. One person suggested resetting my ecu, but I thought I'd ask here first.

I'd take it to the dealer, but I've yet to find a local Honda dealer that really understands the S2k. (Any dealer suggestions... I'm in Santa Monica, Ca.)

For those in Northern California, Elk Grove Honda is excellent! They have a dedicated S2k man who really knows the car.

Do a search on MAP sensor. Common problem and nothing a hammer and a little TLC can't fix . Not guaranteed to be your problem but a good chance.

As suggested at other posts, I disconnected the MAP sensor and gave it a few whacks with a rubber flashlight. (Pretty high tech stuff, but my mechanical skills were nearly up to the challenge. )

Damn thing runs perfect now!

Thanks to Aaron (Strike) and all the others at this site who are so generous with their advice and support. S2KI rocks!

The MAP sensor. It's a small (about 1") sensor located on top of the throttle body. There is a wire that plugs into it. I unplugged the wire and gave the sensor a few gentle whacks. It cleared up the problem beautifully. (I know, it sounds too simple)

My motor ran away.

I will be replacing it with a new offspring from Mike Simon.
