Hesitation
Hope I'm putting this in the right area. I just bought a 2001 S with 12000 miles. Its Honda certified. I bought it last Monday. I've put 1100 miles on it since. (My everyday ride is in the shop) Wednesday I was pulling out after the car had been sitting for about 4 hours and it was hesitating and bogging down like it wasn't getting fuel or fire or something. It smoothed out later but when it was acting up it wouldn't get over 5500 rpm. Took it to the dealer today to get the the sparkplug recall done, I told them what had happened and they said it probably had something to do with the sparkplug recall. The do the recall and I leave. Tonight I leave work to get something to eat and it does the same thing but it lasts alot longer. I call them and they tell me to call in the morning and talk to the service person. The salesperson said he was showing the car to a lady before I got it and it did the same thing for a minute or two and he blew it off just like I did the first time. Gotta talk to them in the morning.
I'm under the impression its the Map sensor from what I've read. Have any of you had the same problem. Thanks in advance for any help.
P.S. I've only put 93 Octane in it and Only Amoco or Bp

Good possibility that it is just the cold engine limiter doing it's thing. Untill the car is warmed up (3 bars on the temp gauge) the engine is prevented from going into the 6,000 r.p.m. range.
The fact that it did it for an extended period at night (cooler ambient temp) makes a lot of sense. It is simply to keep you from thrashing a cold engine and doing some damage, check your manual for confirmation and congratulations on your purchase. Oh yeah, and call the service rep back and tell him to bone-up on his studies a bit, really no excuse for them not knowing this.

Thanks for the reply, it has though done this even when it was pretty warm and in lower ranges around 3 grand if I remember correctly. I even think that it cut off on me a stop sign. To me it acts like its not getting fuel. Almost like a clogged fuel filter. When its doing it, any accelerating no matter how minor causes it to hesitate. I do think the temp thing did cause my first instance but the last few have continued for about 45 minutes on 80 to 85 degree days and in lowers RPMs. Any other ideas?
