So I go into this knowing that diagnosing sounds via forum is challenging and that sounds are greatly subject to interpretation. Having said that, I am wondering if anyone can point me into the right direction. I am getting a loud (this much I think everyone would agree) whining noise from my engine bay that I can not pin point. It progressively gets louder with acceleration and then backs off as I decrease speed. I won't completely rule it out, but it does not sound belt driven, it almost sounds electrical. Suggestions?

Sound clip? Any new engine parts added?

I probably can't get to a sound clip until maybe this weekend. The engine is OEM spec, never opened. The car is a 2006 with about 55k miles on it. The only engine related mod at this time is a 70mm exhaust.

Exhaust leak? Was this noise an issue, before the 70mm mod?
