HELP when starting it rev's up to 5k

My CRX had some kind of vacuum hose that used to come loose and cause it to idle at like 4,000 rpm. I just had to slip it back over a fitting and it was back to normal. I'm not saying this is your problem, however I would check for cracked/split hoses.

I thought it would be the other way around. If the sensor isn't working "fried" it would send no signal at all. So having it connected or disconnected would have the same effects.
That makes more sense to me as well.

I've gone over all of the hoses to make sure, even took them off and put them back on to make sure they were secured.

I took the IAC off and took a look at it. It seemed normal. I plugged it back in while watching and sure enough the IAC went the whole way open. At the same time that the valve actually got open I heard the buzzing sound return.

I thought maybe something was in there that was...I dunno giving it the wrong signal because of junk so I did spray some carb cleaner in there. It seemed to make it worse. I got all of this blue colored liquid out of it.

I will venture that it is the IAC and that replacing it will solve my problems, since a bad ems will set me back 1-2 weeks at least. I know someone 2 hours away that has a spare one so I'll go there tomorrow to pick theirs up.

Any other suggestions would be great as well.

Allright I got back a little while ago after my pretty long car trip to get the new IAC. I was worried at the start because even though the IAC didn't make any noise the new IAC would still flip open as soon as I connected it. So while being all down I figured that I should start it up to double check just in case. I started it up and ran perfectly. Just like it always had.

When this happened to me, the alternator fuse was blown. SInce the alternator does not work anymore, it does not create any electro/magnetic field thus does not create resistance to the engine anymore.
Change the fuse and it was ok again. Check it!

um...it's all fixed, thanks anyways. I'll keep that in mind if something goes wrong again
