Help - Weird sounds coming from inside the engine!!

The ECU could have started the problem but if, for example, it allowed one cylinder to misfire it may have caused some conrod damage (as chris_barry detailed and pwrmkr also noted).
However, I 'm not a mechanic:-( so I don't know if this assumption is correct. It's just that - an assumption to check for.

Hi again guys,
Finally my S2K is out of the shop...and guess what the problem was?
Some of the IC in the ECU were damaged (showing higher values than it ought to be) - abt 15 ICs were replaced. Here's the weirder story - this damage was due to the influx of condensation into the ECU, and i guess the part which was affected were the one controlling the ignition and timing. Now the ECU's properly insulated to prevent any more future 'mishaps'.
I guess in Brunei, condensation from airconditioning is more severe due to the high humidity? I dunno...but nonetheless, the S2K's out now - cruising for bruisin. Thanks for all the comments & ideas guys, i really do appreciate them.
