Default HELP! Tempermental engine behavior low/high RPM...

Hey guys, i'm new to the forum.

I noticed my car occasionally hesitates to accelerate as it usually does, and when i throttle it harder (in all gears, but noticeable most in 1st or 2nd gear), VTEC sounds strange... like its not even there at all. In fact on a flat road, the climb from 5000 to around 8500rpm takes a LONG time.... almost 4-5 seconds!!!

Plus there's just no 'ooomph' feeling at all... AND THEN, i'll try WOT again sometime later, and it'll run as it should in normal fashion.... Everything is fine with the car: healthy, no mods, no CEL/MRL, consistent oil change/91 octane pump. and I don't push the car until engine temp = 3 bars.

i've tried the "MAP WHACK", then after that it ran fine after that.. was relieved for a little bit, but it'll go back to acting weird again. Also I noticed the times it runs 'crappy' idle revving is strange... car will vibrate for about 2 seconds, and swing back to normal.

Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is?

Well, to me it sounds like you have a cracked on sinkin' valve retainer. I could be wrong but thats just my opinion. You should have someone take a look at it or you could do it yourself its not hard to spot just be meticulous.

Honda has just released a new TSB for the MAP sensor and sensor retaining system. You might want to look into this.

xviper... so you think its a bad connection in the MAP sensor?
i believe that TSB is a simple clip that keeps the harness more secure correct?

When these sorts of odd glitches happen to a fairly high tech car, it could be anything. Although the TSB primarily targets the harness securing system, it does give you a new MAP sensor. Honda's choice of MAP sensor has always been suspect. Look here:
