help stripped alen head on output flange!

IIRC, the driveshaft isnt threaded so cutting off the head will let you pull the shaft out, then you have more access to remove the bolt.

normally on a driveshaft its hollow and then there is a nut on the back side.

if you think you dont have space for the extractor you can always cock it to the side a littlebit. also you dont need to use a socket wrench on it you can use a box-end wrench on it for clearance.

Well thanks for all the advice.
I ended up dremeling 1/4 of the way into the head and then put some vice grips on it and found that it now moved. I guess the tension was released with the amout of material removed from the bolt/bracket interface.

for those of you who have swapped the transmission... What did you use to lower it. I have read a recommendation to buy a motorcycle jack but I don't want to buy that. Is there another way? I've got some 2' pieces of 2x6 board to put on top of my jack but it doesn't seem like it'll be real stable and I don't feel like dropping the transmission on my hand...

If I'm removing the trans with the car on jackstands I let Mr. Gravity help lower the trans.
