Yes it is mainly around 4k rpm and when I hit the throttle under the hood I can not hear it. I only hear it on load when driving? Confusing huh lol

Did you not consider that this was pertinent information to be posted in your very first post? Had you told us this, a lot of speculation could have been saved. An AEM or the like type of intake is well known to have this sort of load induced rpm dependent induction noise. This sort of noise is present in the OEM intake but ESPECIALLY so in an AEM or Injen type of intake system. It is simply intake noise that is amplified by the type of tubing and filter system used in this sort of CAI.

ps. Don't feel to badly. You are not the first:

Well, I gots the OEM intake and I'm pretty sure the airbox is not making the noise, it sounds more mechanical. Been driving the car for 30k miles and the noise just surfaced, I'm betting on the belt tensioner or one of the pulleys. If that is the case then the noise will progessively get louder and thus easier to diagnose.

I'm not sure if you guys actually read any response, but I will make one more effort to try to help you.

- I have NO modified air intake system.
- I DID have the described noise around 4000 rpm under partial engine load.
- My mechanic told me this is a KNOWN issue relating to the THROTTLE BODY
- The aforementioned throttle body was replaced, and behold, the noise was GONE.

Regards,

Siepel

I think most people noted your post. It's just that this noise is simply "noise". It is not harmful in any way, nor is it truly obnoxious. It certainly is not a "problem" and even calling it an "issue" is a bit of an exageration. In fact, I really liked it because it gave the car a bit of mystery. In some conditions, it almost sounded like a supercharger. Personally, I prefer to call it a "characteristic" - not something that the vast majority of S2000 owners should be concerned or obsessed about nor should they be going out in huge mobs to Honda to demand a new throttle body.
Remember the 4-barrel carbeurator? I do. I remember how, when a certain type of intake was put on, you could hear the induction whistle and whine - like a powerful monster, sucking in the universe. Many owners of "muscle cars" purposely went out to seek an air filter and airbox that would accentuate that sound. I learned to love that noise and some of you want to silence it? On the other hand, there are those who drive full size vans because they can install a Barcalounger for a seat - "it turns, it heats, it's plush, it has fold down TV table and it vibrates too".
