Default Help! Stranded! No clutch..

Clutch suddenly stopped working.. Started making grinding while shifting as if not fully engaging... Then nothing. On side of road. Clutch pedal feels very rough/dry. When releasing clutch pedal, & makes a clicking sound that seems to be coming from slave cylinder on/near transmission (?)
Fluid level looks good?
I'm not that knowledgable with clutches or their inner workings & involvement with tranny.. But I'm assuming maybe slave cylinder???

you need brake fluid in clutch reservoir. closest grocery too far? Clutch in with engine off, shift into 1, start car.

If you're good at rev-matching, you can rev-match no-clutch into higher gears. Dont do this if you cant.
drive as quick to a grocery/gas station and get some brake fluid. pour it into clutch reservoir, pump clutch a crapload of times. When you get home/garage get it bled properly. I drove a 240sx with no clutch (friends) all the way home with this method.

whoops. just read it again. Did you really check clutch reservoir or did you check the brake reservoir? the symptoms you suggest say the clutch reservoir is bone dry, or the clutch fork and slave is misaligned (not a side of the road fix, really) or the release bearing is fscked.

Call a tow truck.

Yes checked the clutch and brake fluids all look ok
The car is stopped don't know how to get it into first with the clutch not doing anything
Otherwise I would be able to rev match shift without clutch if it was moving
I'm on a slight uphill incline

The odd thing is when I release clutch peddle it makes a loud clicking sounds like coming from near the slave cylinder, but don't know much about clutches

Ok, I misread your second post about starting it with it in gear...
I got ahold of one of my mechanic buddies who came out and was able to drive the S2000 to a Sears Auto Center (where I work - sales), he started it while in first and jerkishly got it moving. He said it shifts perfectly fine without the clutch once the car is moving so the transmission itself should be fine.. I'll try to have it checked out by one of my senior techs in the morning..
My current thoughts are that if releasing the pedal makes a clicking sound from under car, that fluid must be building pressure but something in or near slave cylinder or in transmission is messed up?
I wish I was more knowledgeable about the internal workings of the clutch within the transmission..

Got it lifted up at work. Removed boot for slave cylinder, it is working properly. Fluid & cylinders are good. But while releasing clutch there is a loud CLICK!
Appears to be coming from within tranny.
Video soon.

I wonder if your release bearing clip that holds on the fork broke. Shifting can be dificult, and notchy. It binds and does not always allow a good shift. I am intersted in what is going on. What year is your car and how many miles? Also do you know if it is the orignal clutch?

Just got tranny dropped. The clip is pretty loose, fork rod/bearing on it is VERY loose.
127k miles
Flywheel looks good, so does friction disk but won't know till we pull em off tomorrow, pressure disk have a couple bent teeth from the fork clanking around inside while running. Bearing is ridiculously loose!!!
Pics and videos when I get home..

update: so here's what I'm going to assume will be needed if flywheel and both disks are bad or should be replaced even if preventative...

Ouch.... incredibly unexpected cost for me right now, definitely going to be a struggle =/

Definitely not. It's a MY00 with 127k miles on it, I purchased it from a friend 6 months ago at 119k, he owned it for 2 years and about 35k miles as a DD, and before him is vaguely unknown. He said he believes an older guy before him had the clutch rebuilt at somewhere around 80k but doesn't have any details.
Ever since I got the car, the clutch pedal has been slightly squeeky and fluid saturates the pedal rod on the master cylinder but only enough to have to top off dot3 once, and the fluid is still good to this day.
So I'm thinking I should order:

46920-S2A-003 MASTER CYLINDER ASSY., CLUTCH
$79.86
46930-S2A-003 CYLINDER ASSY., CLUTCH SLAVE
$56.84
22300-PCX-015 DISK, PRESSURE
$218.46
22841-PR8-010 BOOT, RELEASE FORK
$20.46
22820-PCY-000 FORK, CLUTCH RELEASE
$47.10
22825-PCY-000 HANGER, CLUTCH RELEASE
$17.64
22835-PCY-000 SPRING, RELEASE HANGER
$2.35
21103-PCY-003 GUIDE, RELEASE BEARING
$26.20
22810-PCY-003 BEARING, CLUTCH RELEASE
$91.93
22100-PCX-005 FLYWHEEL
$243.60
22200-PCX-055 DISK, FRICTION
$107.74

Just skip the flywheel and maybe the friction disk if they are both in good condition..
Any other parts I would need to replace these? Random bolts/seals/grease/etc?
OH! almost forgot when removing the shifter, it was completely bone dry throughout the entire section under the boot... (ironic because this was going to be my next weekend s2000 mini-project, to regrease the shifter)
