HELP! Spoon snorkel install
first off, thanks guys.
so i have tried to install my spoon snorkel a couple different times, but i cant get my hood to latch when its installed. everything seems to fit perfect and snug where it should be as far as the snorkel itself. it seems though my hood still hits the snorkel (i cant really tell) so i have removed the front ap2 brace that is sort of in the way, i have tried repositioning the hood latch as high as it goes, messed with teh bump stops etc. i didnt think the spoon snorkel i had to cut the hood correct? any help info, and or experiences with it would be greatly appreciated. thanks again.

I have a replica and what I did was keep the intake cover off, then try closing the hood... that should give you an idea where the snorkel should be in the intake.

You shouldn't have to cut the hood (J's and Mugen are the only ones IIRC that require this) for a spoon snorkel.
How are you closing the hood?
Iv'e found it best to drop the hood from mid-chest high, to get ti to close. NSX's require the same technique to get the front hood to shut.

This may sound crazy however, spread a little peanut butter on the top edge of the snorkel. Lower the hood until it touches the snorkel. Apply a little presure and then lift the hood. It will transfer the peanut butter where it is touching. Same issue with my install. the right side of the snorkel is 1/16 in too high. My local guy that pulls dents did a little manipulation of the metal framing and it no longer touches. It is that close.
good luck with it.

this is an old thread, but i'll give my input again.
the spoon snorkel usually requires cutting, unless it's a spoon copy that isn't the shape of the original. This is the reason why the spoon hood has the hump like the mugen and j's hoods.
I believe the J's snorkel is the one that doesn't require hood modification. The j's intake on the other hand DOES require hood cutting. If you look at the profile of each snorkel, you can tell whether it was designed to fit without modification or an aftermarket hood. For the snorkels to fit w/ the oem hood, they taper significantly at the 90 degree bend above the radiator support.
