Help from Spark Plug Gods!
Hey fellas, from what i have read AP1's tend to run a littl on the rich side. Can you run a hotter plug to compensate for it? Reason for asking is i am running a test pipe and tend to see light black smoke above 6k and of course have black deposits on my exhaust. When sitting at a stop light, you can def tell that its running rich just from the smell. I've read before that you can run a hotter plug but wasn't sure which one. Any info will def help. Thanks!

A plug with a higher heat range will not burn more gas than a stock plug. Higher heat range will help burn away residue on the plug. If your plug is too hot, you will get pre-ignition (knock). If the heat range is too low, your plug will foul easily.

Some carbon on the bumper/exhaust can also be an indication of burning oil. Do you consume any between oil changes at all?

Yes they do. Seems pretty typical to me. If you want to fix the rich issue then i suggest a VAFC-2. That would be your cheapest option. After that there is just expensive stand alone.
