help, it seems that my lsd is dead
HI all:
I think I just killed my cusco 2way today. I launched at 4K rpm, then all of a sudden I heard this strange bang noise, not exactly sure but it seems that it came from the rear diff, then my car goes to the left when I accerates, if I drive it slow, there is also werid "click click " coming for my diff. I have only 7K miles on the LSD, just changed the fluid 1K mils ago. Is it the LSD? or it's something more serious, does CUSCO come with warrenty? IS anyone else with cusco experiencing the same problem? could it be a problem with the installation?
thanks

You could get under there and manipulate both 1/2 shafts and CVs. Assuming that only one side is damaged, you should be able to tell that one side is different. Grab the shafts and try to rotate them back and forth, push and pull on them. With the wheels locked (ebrake) and tranny in gear there should be a difference left and right if something is broken. You have to have a bit of mechanical feel for what's going on. If not, you are best to have a pro check it out.

thanks xviper for the input. I just drove the car for a really short distance, whenever I turn, there is a huge noise, sound like when a metal clutch engages, assuming my CV or shafts are bad, wouild my car feel like that? thanks

If it makes the noise predominantly when turning, I'd be more inclined to focus on the diff. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that your CVs and shafts are home free.
If you can, pull the diff drain plug and see if there's big hunks of metal stuck to it. If you do, you have your answer. No matter what the problem is, it's not going to be pleasant. You may as well prepare for the worst and have it at a shop when you do this. If you do this at home, you'll need to flatbed it to the shop anyway unless you plan on taking it apart and fixing it yourself.
