Help: S2k engine is hesitating, stuttering, and bucking under acceleration???
I already took the car to 2 dealers and both claim no problem but there is no way the car is supposed to hesitate like this. My engine is totally stock too!
Any known sensors or other issues that might cause this?
Car is hesitating under acceleration and bucking, very rough throttle response in lower rpm while engine is under load. Problem seems to be most noticeable under 4000 rpm and in gears 2-4 under load.
At idle, engine rpm drops to almost zero sometimes and engine wants to sputter and cut out.
Seems most noticeable when you drive the car in 2-4 gear and keep the rpm's under 4000 rpm. Most noticeable when engine is under load and when accelerating away.
On rolling stop and in traffic, do not depress clutch but just let the engine speed slow the car and then accelerate back up to speed and you will notice throttle not responsive at all and engine lags and wants to hestitate and stumble until rpm's are past 4000 rpm. Engine does not seem to exhibit these symptons at high rpm's over 5k+.
any ideas guys????
thanks,
rick

Just a stab in the dark but have you checked the MAP sensor? If not or you don't know what I'm talking about do a search for MAP sensor. Quick easy fix if it's the problem.

some people like to use the butt end of a screw driver i like to use my shoe particularly the right shoe because i am more dexterious standing on the left foot alone as opposed to just the right foot i don't know why maybe it is because i am right handed and because that is the case i tend to kick more with my right foot does that sound right i think it does

That should've been included in the "MAP Sensor Whack: How-To" article.

Although it may be a MAP issue, I'm thinking that by the description given, it "could" be your typical stop and go traffic, low speed, low rpm, sudden high throttle position "bucking". Try a search using the work "bucking" and you'll find quite a few threads on this subject.
Here is one:

Some say it is a problem that Honda should address. I'm of the opinion that it is a problem that the driver should address since the problem can be almost always eliminated by a change in driver technique.

OK guys, thanks for the suggestions, I tried whacking the MAP and then even had a dealer swap out the MAP sensor for a new one but nothing's changed...problem still there!
