Help removing intake manifold

This is my last post in this thread concerning this...

I don't care what this maruccio guy has to say. I only care what the manufacturer has to say concerning the installation, and if they were to hear about and validate any coolant leak issues as a result of their product they would have implemented a fix. However, seeing as how their product has been out since 2002 or so, and they have not revised their instructions to include the use of loctite to prevent coolant leaks, to them it is a non-issue so long as you following their instructions.

Enough said. Go ahead and use the loctite. You won't have an issue until there is a time where you need to remove the IM. Good luck at removing those already hard to get at bolts.

Remove the belt tensioner and you'll have more room to access the lower intake bolts.

I removed the belt tensioner and the alternator/ intake bracket. This should give you room to the forward 3 lower bolts. The 4th bolt you will need to go throught the side with some extensions directing the extensions with one hand while supporting with the other. The last bolt is a bitch plain and simple after about 30 minutes in the heat I decided to put the socket on from above with 3 fingers and feed an extension through to it and broke it free with a quick snap and then took it out with my fingertips. Good luck. I do feel that the last 2 bolts on the intakemanifold are the most difficult part of the head removal process.

You need to re-torque the bolts after it's been on for awhile because the IMG contracts a bit. You also need to torque the bolts slowly all around to keep everything straight. If you do those two things, it shouldn't leak.

We should also note that the bolts are being torqued without an actual torque wrench, and you want to be careful to not over-torque them. I believe they are only torqued to 22 ft-lbs or so, which is nothing and can easily been over-torqued. I recommend using some anti-seize when putting the bolts back in.

how about some Hondabond on the insulator, and lockwashers on the intake bolts. After all the works to get the insulator in there, might as well go the extra 2%.

Removem TB and alternator with help to get the bolts also.

there aren't lockwashers on the intake bolts.
