I have a rattle similar to the one posted in the video below:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eb2X6uxAdXQ
I looked at the exhaust/heat shielding and all the bolts and heat shields seemed fine and not loose.
Anyone with a similar rattle or experience remedying this?
It's a 2003 w/ ~93K miles, no engine mods.

I think I have a similar noise in my car 1999 - 40k miles, it only really does it when the engine is not fully warmed up ie. been running for about 30 minutes ish. I too have checked all my heatshields etc and all are fine, I'm wqondering if there is something loose in the cat or something else because as I say when my car is fully hot it doesn't do it
so I will be watching this thread with interest.

+1 RPM specific rattles usually end up being exhaust related. If all heat shields are in tact, it could be the catalyst within the catalytic converter has broken. Smack the cat with a rubber mallet (or even your palm assuming its cool enough) and see if you hear rattling within. If you do, you'll need a cat.

I actually ordered a Berk HFC since I found a pretty good deal on one online. Actually arrived in one day since I'm local to Berk. I just passed smog, so I figure a HFC couldn't hurt, wouldn't increase the exhaust noise much ( if at all ) and might net me a HP or two, so why not!
My cat with 93K was actually in great shape. The internals were pretty much fully intact and heat shields tight as can be.
So thinking my rattle would persist, once installed and fully warmed up, the rattle is nearly gone. I say nearly because I think I might hear a tiny tiny faint noise that's probably my own mind playing tricks and being OCD on me. Either that or it's so faint, it's probably nothing and I can live with it.

did you try shaking the OEM car from left to right? cause my internals werent cracked, one half was just dislodged. glad to hear you got the issue fixed. lucky you for having an AP1, AP2 are notorious for throwing a CEL with a HFC.
