Thread revival.
I found what was making the noise I was concerned with in the first post and thought I'd share my findings with the forum in case someone in the future encounters the same issue.
Turns out my cat was ruined and once I replaced it the sound was gone.
Video as evidence that cat is indeed destroyed.

Thanks for the update! Now that I think about it my CR has the same noise very rarely but just kind of sounds like rocks in a tumbler like that. Good to know.
