Thumbs down Help! My rear window cracked!

Yesturday I put my top down on my '01 S2000 and the vynal rear window cracked.
It split all most in the bottom center of it. It's a 3 inch gash.

Is there any way to replace it with a glass one like the '02 and newer ones? Or atleast some kind of vynal repair that will keep out water.

Hi,

Mine also Cracked.

I had it changed for another Pvc one at Honda.

But for the time being while waiting for it to arrive, I got a clear Tape 18" wide from our Hardware Store.

This is a self adhesive tape, it comes in 100's of different colours, but for your job, you need the transparent one.

All you need to do is soak the Pvc glass with water and soap and lay down the Clear Tape. Gently remove the water from underneath it. Try not to allow any air toget trapped. This will look fine, and it will stop water, you can also open the hold.

When the new one arrived, it costed me about $650 to buy and replace.

You can modify your roof frame to hold a glass one... but I don't like the method.

Now, I bought a Brand new top with frame from a 2005 S2000, which was right off after a month.

I will soon put my complete PVC Glass roof with frame and motors for sale.

What did it cost to get the PVC replaced? Also, is there a guide or has anyone here ever done the pvc to glass swap?

Yes the Swap has been done, but I don't like it..

You have to use to straps which allow the glass to drop while the roof is going down.

Another thing is that you have to remove some rivets, which half of this rivet is left rolling in the frame... Which you will hear it will driving or will lowering the hood.

This is not professional

Well I took it to a auto top repair shop and they said that my top wouldn't survive changing out the window, that my whole top is too far gone to save.

So my question is this, will a top for an '02 or newer bolt right in, or is that impossible?

Yes, If you get a top complete with the frame, Its a direct replacement.

No modification.

Why must the frame be changed too? Will it not work with the same frame I have now?

You don't have to change the frame. Clovis shows how to change just the soft top here.

Yes, you have to drill out some rivets - you would have to do this even if you changed just the plastic rear window.
