If your car is under warranty, you can have the catalytic converter replaced. If the cat is not damaged where it can not properly serve its purpose, warranty won't cover it. But, if for some reason it's damaged, it can be replaced, warranty pay.
Possible ways a catalytic converter can be damaged:
Bottomed it out on a speed bump.
Over-rich fuel mixture.
Water contamination.
Baseball bat. (If you know what I mean. )

A catalytic converter that is defective will be replaced under the warranty, but not if it is damaged. Why did the bolt break? Did you install an aftermarket exhaust? I doubt the warranty will cover this, but any exhaust shop can fix it cheap if you don't want to do it yourself.

Well, depending on what kind of damage, it can be argued that the customer had no control over it. Because it is an emissions control device, the dealership will have to replace it under warranty (assuming the car is still covered). That's my point, though: If it's not damaged (or defective), then there's not much you can do... Unless you *cough cough* run over a baseball bat on the way to work *cough cough*
It'll work. Trust me.

Hit it with a wood bat that way the bits of wood will be stuck in the convertor and any coverage will be denied due to foreign object damage.
This isn't worth a debate. It needs a bolt and nut thats it.

That means hit it with a baseball bat.
Have you ever been able to get a car manufacturer to replace your windshield under warranty because a rock hit it? It doesn't matter what the part is, Honda isn't going to cover a damaged part. If dp2580 chops his cat up with an axe, he will have to pay for it himself.

Hehehehe, I'd do the same. Like I said in my first post, I'd replace the bolt with hardware from Home Depot. I was just trying to create some controversy...
