Default help. my car is eating oil

At some point after my last oil change (so about 3000-3500 miles) my car began to just lose oil. There's no smoke coming out of the exhaust, and the car isn't leaking oil, so where is it going? Since that oil change it lost a total of about 3 quarts of oil. I filled it up, and it seemed to be fixed, but i think it is still losing oil, yesterday i thought i heard the valves making noise, but it hasnt done it again. Also, on startup, what i believe is the valves is making a clicking noise, just for a second, while i start it. Please let me know what you think, because i wanted to have this fixed before i do an oil change. Thanks.

An oil change place said my PCV valve needed to be replaced or else the car will burn more oil then usually... does this make sense to you guys?

it the valve doesn't work properly or is clogged, you'll have higher crankcase pressures which will lead to slightly higher oil consumption. They typical life of them is about a year or 15k miles, although cheaper ones need to be replaced more often.

When I reached 7k miles the oil consumption went down... be sure to check level regularly.

Some cars are fortunate not to consume significant amounts of oil. Some however, do.

If your car burns oil, make sure you pay attention to your oil level more often.
