Default Help Me Diagnose My Engine Problem

So I'm at a loss to explain this sound in my engine and thought I would put it out to the board.

For the past 3-4 months I've been noticing a clicking sound that rises and falls with the engine rpm. It's not associated with the drivetrain cause I can still get it with the clutch out. Imagine the sound a fan makes when you put a piece of paper in it, this sound is very similar.

It isn't loud and really becomes audible around 3k-4k RPM, especially when I'm driving next to a wall. Whats odd is that yesterday I changed my oil and it went significantly down (could it be the oil pump?)

From my investigation I'm not hearing it from the timing belt. But if I had to pick a side of the car it's on the right (looking out the windshield).

So, does anyone have any thoughts or other questions? I'm at a loss to explain this...and it wasn't here 6 months ago....

If it's "ticking" or "clicking" with the rise and fall of RPM's then I would recommend taking it to go get looked at.

Did you overrev? whats your driving style?

It's a timing "chain" not "belt"....

Timing chain tensioner is bad, I can almost guarantee it

Changed about 8 in the past few months, all made clicking sound like you described.

Is this a "replacement" or an "adjustment" Billman? I thought I saw a write up on this..

Replacement. It's about 110-140 bucks, and goes in directly under the VTEC valve. Easy, DIY job

So this is something I could do on my own, if thats the case? Any thoughts if this is having a detrimental effect on the car right now? I absolutely want to fix it, but finding the time is the problem.

Thanks for the help guys!

14510-PCX-005 is the tensioner assy part number. You can bet you'll get something different if you don't give them this number.

I will do a DIY post when I have a lil free time.
