Simple tap to the gas before moving got rid of any heat soak I ever had. Maybe if you are in 110 degree temps in traffic it will be really annoying. besides that haven't had any issues at all and lived in hot FL with the intake for a year.

I know what you mean. I just helps the car move from a stop during heat soak. You tap the gas a bit to charge the plenum with cooler air from the intake.

In other words, I imagine that at idle, the air in the intake plenum is getting heated by the plenum itself that gets the heat transferred from the head. Tapping the accelerator moves that overheated air into the engine and replaces it with a slightly cooler charge from the intake, maybe 2 or 3 degrees cooler but it helps propel the car better from a stop.

Thats all I can think of.

I didnt want to get CAI since I didnt want to deal with the hydrolock and the fipk just didnt look at nice to me. I went with comptech, I dont know how much better it is than fipk but just from looking at it, it SEEMS to battle heatsoak better.

I love my Comptech. I just wish I could get rid of the resonance of the lid between 3800 rpm's and 5000 rpms. I've tried dynamat and putty for sealing up drafts on windows with some improvement, but I've never been able to completely get rid of it. Plus I think it's the best looking intake without spending a grand+ for the password or mugen.

about 330 which is not so far off from the fipk which I believe is about 225. Do you have the old version or the new version? I just got mine yesterday and dont plan on putting it in till spring since I live in Minnesota its hibernating.

its proven that when your car is moving the bay is the same temp as the outside air...only when your stopped is when it sucks, and thats only when its summer
Really? I've proven this wrong with my own testing. Datalogging with S300, a SRI vs CAI on my H22 Prelude, resulted in a 12* difference while cruising at 60mph.

I'm also confident that my FIPK/AUT plate is cooler than the OEM box when the car is moving; especially on spirited drives. Although, the heat soak is bad when you're at a stop for awhile. I plan on datalogging the difference whenever I get an EMS.
