Come to think of it I have plenty of space to sit inside the bay after removing the stock airbox

You have to break the seal. Once out breaks free it will twist off no problem. I agree with grabbing pliers and twisting it.
After you break the seal twist it back in forth while pulling it off.

all my hoses seem to do that. You need to force a small flathead screwdriver under the edge of the hose and around the circumference, once you can do that it will twist.
As for that bitch of a bolt, I duct taped a ratcheting box end wrench to a piece of pipe, which was long enough to get onto the bolt then just loosen it up. I've done it a couple of times, the first time I used a screwclamp to attach the wrench and pipe, second time I could only find duct tape, both worked fine for me. If you don't have a proper length of metal pipe you can attach two box end wrenches together, like a large sized one 22 or 23 mm along with the 10mm one needed for the bolt. It ain't easy but it worked. Only need to loosen it a couple of turns.

Finally I can get that hose off!!!!! Even with pliers I need fair amount of elbow grease and hurt my elbow in the process (I bang it against the chassis).... but hey it's worthwhile
The last problem is the bolt...... I bought a hex spanner so it's slimmer and can get it in... just don't have space to rotate it... damn it...
@JFUSION - I'll try that tomorrow and see how it goes

lol....hex spanner ....I guess thats what Jfusion and I call a box end wrench. Yes, do what Jfusion said and slip a pipe over it and tape it in so it doesn't fall out. You should be able to get enough leverage with a long enough pipe to either pop it loose or tear the head off it.

booyah finally I managed to get the heatshield off (after hours and hours) and finished installing both intake and torque damper
now when I was testing the car at idle, light throttle the car seems to rev fine but then kind of bog down to idle rpm.... weird... tried a few more times and there seems after revving the rpm plummets down then up to idle.... why is this? it's hard to explain in words but instead of say 'linear' or smooth transition now it appears to spike down and then up...
is this normal? do I need to reset the ECU??
I'm a newb at this so would appreciate all the help I can get
cheers guys!!
NB: here's hoping I didn't damage anything :S

my ap1 does that too, and i'm all stock. when you rev it a little the rpms come back to like 3-4 bars and go back up. is that what yours did? i'd say its normal, as long as the car doesnt stall.

@irv_usc: I double checked everything and can't find any leaks, etc. Everything seems to be ok from installation pov.
@realblag: shouldn't ecu reset when battery is disconnected?
