Default help with crx????

I have a 1988 crx. It has an issue i am concerned about you might be able to add some insight too. At 1500 rpms the motor cuts out, you have to throttle past it then it hesitate again at 2700-3300 unles syour on it hard. While cruising just mainting speed so barly on the gas it cuts out randomly...sorta like the engines dies for a tenth of a second. I replaced the cap and rotor, it has new cpark plug wires. i am wondering what this could be. I thought it was timing related so i advanced the timing some and it ran about the same but had more power but still did the same cutting out as befor. I have a new fuel pump i could put in...do you think it could be a pump? or filter? or injectors ? where should i start i am at a loss here1 thanks in advance!

Best guess is a filter. When was the last time you changed the fuel filter?

I have a 91 Civic that I recently went through completely in order to bang it through NJ emissions. If you have a fuel pressure gauge definetely test the fuel pressure and regulator.

I recently had a problem like the one you said, it turned out to be the rotor had spun loose and would skip sometimes until eventually it got off timing and did not start. I'd start by checking the main engine ground from the valve cover and then the ground on the thermostat housing. From that point you can check all the sensors.

The other things I would definetely check would be the ignition coil and ignitor (ICM).

Good Luck.

I had a 93 mustang that would stall out getting up to speed then would stall out every so often keeping the speed. Something was stuck in the filter and was allowing only so much into the line at a given time. It ended up being the fuel filter. If you haven't changed it in a while it is a good idea to change it anyway.

There are a number of good CRX forums (fora?) - the Honda CRX Performance Page is one of the better ones. Not that you shouldn't ask here, but you might get better answers there.
