Help.... Clutch Problem???????
Help...
i have 2001 model with 2600 miles.never have i dropped the clutch to launch car at say 6,7,8 rpm. Friday night i raced mustang gt and had my first hard launch and it was perfect ..got out like a rocket with no lag or wheel spin. then tonight i tried again. First time the engine spun and the car went nowhere. speedo moved but car crawled and no wheel spin then the worst clutch smell ever and boy was it strong... then second time it caught fine. then third time same as first hardly moved though speedo went up..WTF is it possible my clutch is bad
any suggestions

Wow, and I thought it was me! I had the EXACT same thing happen to me about two weeks ago. I had never launched the car. I read about the "correct" way to do it here.
I was on a nicely paved road, at a stop light. I reved up to 7K and side-stepped. I watched the tach climb, but the car didn't move. When it hit redline, I let off. I let the engine wind-down, and then took off normally. I reasoned that it caught on my oversized sandals. Now it seems like that wasn't likely. (I didn't feel the clutch hit my foot...I just wanted to believe it was me, and not the car.)
It was a hideous smell...one that didn't dissipate for about an hour of driving. It freaked me out so much, I haven't done it since that time. Now, sadly, I just let the teens take off at lights...knowing I could embarrass myself by having the same thing happen again!
