Update (10/19/14):
I ended up stopping by a local shop (JMP Auto Werkz) and showed them the issue I was having. The mechanic was convinced that the motor is fine and that he suspected it was something in the clutch/transmission. He dropped the transmission and found an issue with the pressure plate (see pic below). Showed Ballade Sports the pic below and they warrantied the item, installed new clutch and pressure plate, and fixed both of my rear wheel bearings & hubs for their error. Woohoo! I had to tow the car twice and couldn't drive it for a while, but I'm glad it's all sorted now.

Do yourself a favor and use an oem pressure plate and disc.

I have used them for 12 years, on hundreds of cars, new and used. Their track record has been 100% bulletproof. That type of imbalance will cause major engine damage.

I agree. The Ballade Sports clutch kit is a set of modified OEM clutch parts, but next time, I'll probably go with OEM-OEM. Heh.

Just outta curiosity, was the OEM clutch worn out? Or was there any issues, other than a worn clutch disc?

Thanks! Glad you found the problem.

Clutch #1: Original OEM clutch lasted 215k miles or so.
Clutch #2: Exedy OEM clutch (I thought this was exactly the same as the OEM OEM clutch. I think someone said it wasn't.. ) The throwout bearing (new) exploded at the track and broke some pieces on the clutch disc and flywheel. (broke after 4k miles)
Clutch #3: Ballade Sports Street Clutch Kit mentioned in this thread.

In the future, I will just buy the OEM clutch kit directly from Honda..

The clutch disk itself is an Exedy part, the pressure plate is made by F.C.C. The pilot and release bearings are actually manufactured by Honda. When you buy the clutch kit from flea bay you may get the correct pressure plate, or the correct disk but you are getting horribly inferior bearings, these bearings are what cause problems. So getting a clutch kit for $450 isn't going to save you any money because then you still have to pay $150 shipped for the pilot and release bearings. When you can just get all the OEM parts for ~ $500 shipped plus $35 to resurface the flywheel, so yeah you pay a little more, but at the same time you can get about 150,000 miles out of the unit.

If you need a new flywheel you can get an FX/F1 racing chrome-moly flywheel, I think it's 11 lbs which is 3lbs lighter than an OEM one. I put it in my car along with OEM everything else. I didn't even bother to break it in, I was hammering away in vtec after the 5 miles it took to get on the freeway. 10,000 miles and two track days later it still works flawlessly. I've put the same one on two other cars and no problems for them either although they broke theirs in.

It was easier to torque the bolts than an OEM one too. Since I don't have a ring gear tool, I used a bike lock, looped it around one of the holes and turned the crank until lock supported itself against the bellhousing.

" FX/F1 racing chrome-moly flywheel. I didn't even bother to break it in. "

JOC, how do you break in a flywheel? Who made the pressure plate, that you are now using?

Thanks!
