That's too bad, I'm really sorry

Why would it cost 5-7k? They'd have to replace the valves and guides that were bent, but it wouldn't be that much, would it? How much is a new complete head? This is of course assuming that no pistons are damaged...then I could definetely see it costing a ton...

I can't see insurance covering this at all, it's designed to protect your investment if you get in an accident, not for mechanical failures.

I have read that insurance is insurance not just for vehicles in a car accident. I have full coverage as the car is still financed. Also I have read that because it is insured as such that it can fall under comprehensive to protect the lien holders investment.

For referance, the short block lists for $2825.82 and the cylinder head assy lists $3296.40. That is 6K in list parts alone. Then you have to pat someone install it.

The short block installed at the dealer is 5K. I know, I have paid it before.

Well actually my insurance did. Not for an over-rev, but for a Hydo-lock.

ChefJ has an accident. He shifted the gear wrong. It caused 7K in damages to his investment.

I am not completely sure its blown. I mean it has all of the symptoms but it starts just fine and will drive and isn't leaking any oil. Its on its way to the dealership and won't be looked at until Monday. Is there anything else it could be clutch or trans related?? I don't think that would cause the motor to shake though?? I just don't know and really can't afford a new motor. It would be sitting for months if insurance doesn't cover it and it is a blown motor. This really sucks.

I just don't think I mis shifted. The clutch was having a hard time picking up second gear and went into third fine. Then I am pretty sure I went into forth but the clutch didn't pick it up and it went to redline for a split second and I clutched out of it into neutral. I just don't remember because it happened so fast. its MY01 with 45xxx and a stock clutch.
