Default Heater won't heat

Hi. Today was feeling quite cold, so I went to turn the heater on, but it only blew cold air out. The temp sensor was on the middle bar so I know the engines warm. But even after blowing for 10 minutes it's still cold. Is this a quick fix or do I need to take it to Honda.

The first thing I'd check is the coolant level - with the engine cold of course.

x2. check coolant level.

did you change coolant lately? if so, there may be bubbles in your coolant line and the heater core may be dry.

take a look under the hood, above the header on the looped coolant hose is the blend valve that lets coolant into the heater core. There's a little cable that runs off into the firewall (looks like a throttle cable). Have someone rotate the temp knob in the car and see if the lever on the valve moves.

My roommate's S2000 had this problem a few weeks ago, found out that the valve wasn't opening (much). I pulled out the pass. airbag and saw the cable stripped out of the mount right by the motor that controls the valve.

iv checked the coolant, was slightly below min but the hose still managed to reach the fluid. iv topped it up to make sure. is there any thing else i need to do to clear the bubbles (if thats the problem) from the sytem.

You need to check the coolant level in the radiator as well, not just the coolant reservoir. If it is full, and the heater valve near the firewall is being actuated when the temp knob turns, then you can try "burping" the cooling system. Basically, fill the reservoir up to the upper limit, turn the heater to max, then do some agressive / high RPM driving with plenty of hard corners. This has always fixed it for me, but you may have to do it a few times. Just keep refilling the reservoir.

if the valve opens all the way then there is prolly still air in the system.

how much coolant did you have to add? it takes about 35 minutes to fully and properly bleed the car from a dead cold start. on average it takes a good 3 or 4 fan cycles.

rebleed the car to be sure you get all the air out possible. while bleeding make sure the heat dial is turned to all the way hot. if this fails then it might be time to check the thermostat.

Here is a thread Marcucci posted a few months ago when he had similar issues.
