Heater valve question

Heater valve question
A weird thing happened yesterday, I tried to bleed the cooling system before the tuning but impossible to get heat inside the car.
Moved the heater valve to the drivers side a week ago but no time to make the cable longer and thought I could just put it at "open" for full flow, easy to pop the hood and change when needed.
Said and done, had the valve fully opened and followed the instructions a few times, still no heat inside the car...
After a while I just turned the knob to red inside the car and full heat arrived, WTF? Is there a second valve inside the car? Why? And most important, can I remove the one in the engine bay?
